In 2023, the Department of International and Comparative Politics (ICP) signed the exchange agreement with the Political Science Department of the Universite Catholique de l’Ouest (Catholic University of West – UCO) in France.Ìý
On April 8-12, 2024, Dr. BuÄŸra Güngör, Assistant Professor of International and Comparative Politics, and Dr. Görkem Atsungur, Associate Professor of International and Comparative Politics, Chair of the ICP Department, and Head of the Social Sciences Division, visited UCO’s campuses in Angers and Nantes in France and conducted public lectures.Ìý
On April 11, 2024, Dr.ÌýBuÄŸraÌýGüngör delivered a public lecture titled "The Motives of Emerging Donors: Examples from Turkey and Qatar". Dr. Güngör's presentation aimed to demonstrate why rising donors give aid and highlighted the differences and commonalities between the behaviors of emerging and traditional donors.
On 8, 9, and 11 April 2024, Dr. Görkem Atsungur met with first- and second-year students of UCO and conducted three lectures on ‘Central Asian Politics’ and discussed the geopolitics of the region with a specific focus on the positions of Russia, China, and Türkiye in Central Asia. Furthermore, Dr. Atsungur introduced the AUCA as an institution and the ICP program and encouraged UCO students for the exchange mobility at AUCA in Bishkek.Ìý
Dr. Güngör and Dr. Atsungur also met with the Director of International Development and Head of International Affairs and Partnerships in Angers, and two UCO students in Nantes who will be exchange students at AUCA in Fall 2024 and discussed the course selection, student academic life at AUCA, and life in Bishkek.Ìý
Both institutions decided to strengthen further partnerships and increase collaboration for the faculty and students’ mobility and exchange.Ìý
