April 11, 2023
On April 15, the ºì´½Ö±²¥ will host the 2nd 6R Fest - a festival dedicated to waste management in everyday life, under the motto "interesting and useful about waste".
(goods from eco–producers and women employed in the tourism sector of the Kyrgyz Republic, hand-made products, exchange of things and books within the framework of the "Buy Nothing in Bishkek" project), including charity ones. For the first time, elders, craftswomen from the Bishkek city boarding house for the elderly will take part in the festival with their upcycling products: they will bring for the festival handmade sewn and knitted things, vases, napkins, kuraks, souvenirs, interior items, etc. Their works will be available for purchase, and all proceeds from the sale will go to help residents of the nursing home.
The money raised from the sale of books – collections of tasks of the AUCA Mathematical Olympiads for high school students (2012-2022), which were kindly provided for the festival by the Department of Mathematics and Information Technology of AUCA, thereby contributing to charity, will also go to help the Bishkek Home for the elderly.
In parallel, the fair will host 3 interesting workshops, all of them devoted to different ways of processing organic waste in our country, as well as the problem of reducing the amount of food waste that is relevant for Kyrgyzstan (see the program below).
Of course, during the festival we will summarize the long–awaited results of the Sustainable Art & Design eco-contest "From garbage to art", announce the names of the WINNERS and award them PRIZES!
What kind of festival without music, songs and dances? We will have them too! A bright, sunny concert specially for 6R Fest was organized and will be shown by future doctors – talented and professional students of the art club "Talents" of the International Higher School of Medicine.
The language of the event is Russian (there will be English-speaking volunteers). Admission is free for everyone. We look forward to seeing everyone!
The event is organized by the AUCA Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) within the framework of the Green AUCA program (waste management program on campus). The festival is timed to the Green April – the month during which a series of environmental events takes place in AUCA: workshops, a festival, tree planting and a clean-up in the Karagachev grove, an eco-tour.
The event is supported by the Kyrgyz-German-Swiss GIZ program "Green Economy and Sustainable development of the Private sector in the Kyrgyz Republic".
