It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Aliia Salikhova on Saturday, February 18. Aliia was a part of the AUCA family, a freshman student of the Business Administration Department, and an NGA alumna.

Aliia was an incredibly bright and ambitious young woman who had a passion for learning and making a difference in her community. She was an active member of the AUCA Community, during her short stay at the university, she managed to volunteer at different events, supervised the NGA mental workshops, and also led the AUCA business page.

"Aliia will be remembered by students and colleagues as an excellent student and friend who was charismatic, generous, and kind. She was a participant in the FLEX Program and later worked as a FLEX alumni city representative in Bishkek as well as a program coordinator for the Community Service and Involvement Program (CSIP). In addition to having a gold certificate and earning a merit-based scholarship, Aliia received numerous recognitions for her work as a mentor at the 2021 Human Rights Workshop and Debate & Public Speaking Workshop. She was an active participant of USAID U.S. Embassy programs, such as Virtual Democracy Camp and the MakerCamp for Girls." — Jonathan Becker, AUCA president.
